Environment Conservation Trust (ECT) is an organization which works with several organizations under common objective for the conservation of nature and its resources. It is a nonprofit company registered under the company secretariat of Sri Lanka.
Environmental legal rights and responsibilities and associated consequences, use of the media, awareness raising campaigns, incorporation of environmental issues in mainstream education, increasing awareness and education in target groups and encouragement of public participation in environmental matters is the major consideration of ECT.
Objectives of the Organization
Putting public attention and taking necessary actions about national policies to direct for environment conservation.
To take legal actions against the Environment destruction or violating environment rights.
Local and International cooperation, collaboration and networking for environment conservation
To crate the environment conservation knowledge and awareness among the public.
In order to achieve its general objectives it is working on following thematic areas.

Policy, lobbing and advocacy
Research, information, communication and publication
Education, training, monitoring and evaluation
The ECT is collaborating and responding to needs at the community, district, provincial and national level and network members of the ECT, on unplanned and harmful development practices by the Government of Sri Lanka, International Financial Institutes, United Nations and privet sector, natural and human made disasters, environmental and bio-diversity damage. The ECT also establishes arrangements and partnerships with other international organizations, universities and institutions operating in the same area for the purpose of environmental and bio-diversity resource management and promoting sustainable development.
